Talking to the Sun

Field notes from Farmer Frank.

Talking to the Sun is a short documentary of astronomical proportions joining Farmer Frank as he takes care of his small spot on Earth, paving his own path from seed to harvest.

As he mentors people in his community who want to learn from his great experience and love for nature, he grows and feeds the people around him.

Frank is an important part of our community, growing organic food and promoting healthy eating. Frank is creating a life measured not by scale, but by care. 🌱

This is about noticing the magic in the everyday.

Project timeline: Started filming at the end of 2024 for a little over a year. The 21 min film is now complete and just starting the film festival journey. See more videos & photos here!

Thank you to Field Notes for supporting and sponsoring Talking to the Sun! I love Field Notes and have been using their notebooks for over a decade! Field Notes offers smartly-designed, vintage-inspired pocket notebooks, notepads, journals, calendars, planners, and writing accoutrements. They originated with farmers using these notebooks.

Why? I met Frank while filming for the Louisville Farmers Market in Colorado. I loved his thoughts about how he grows healthy food and think of his words as a metaphor for living a good life. I’m always in search of people who’s words resonate and I can film. A documentary about Frank is e beneficial for all people and all ages. I am LOVING this project and so thankful for Frank and his sweetie Jill’s time and energy into this.
